Salt dough can be used for so many things from crafts (like ornaments) or school related activities like fossils. Our history book, History of the World is amazing and the activity book has all kinds of optional activities you can do to further experience the history you read about. When today it suggested making clay figures I was all in….in the form of salt dough!
I hopped on Pinterest and wanted to find a new salt dough recipe. I was so excited when I found this microwaveable one from Rainy Day Mum! Baking salt dough has not always been successful for me. Microwaving it was awesome. There is a little bit to the timing of it because it does like to bubble up as it dries in there, but none of ours got ruined! I’m wondering if half power would help too. I’ll try that next time!
All you need is:
- 1 cup Plain Flour All-Purpose
- 1/2 cup Table Salt
- 1/2 cup Water
When microwaving be sure to do it in 10 second bursts checking regularly. IT IS IMPORTANT!
We just rolled it out and used cookie cutters to keep it simple and the kids painted them. I made handprints of the boys with the leftover dough and those are my favorite creations of the day. Little handprints are the sweetest! Microwaving salt dough is genius!
